Bingsoo Hotspot 3 🍧:
Red Pepper, Strathfield

Yes, it is evident that most of the Bingsoo hotspots that I have visited are in Strathfield (one of the popular Korea towns in Sydney) 😁. My friend and I wanted to grab some lunch and dessert, so why not go to a place that serves both? 😝

We researched about Red Pepper and figured out that it is a sports club that serves popular Korean dishes and desserts. We made our first visit to Red Pepper at around noon on a Saturday 🥳.

Location and Ambience

Red Pepper is located on Morwick St, away from the high traffic areas of Strathfield. You will know when you are near Red Pepper when you see a soccer court, which is on the side of the sports club. You will be able to see the entrance to the sports club on the half-way mark, when you walk through the narrow footpath between the sports club and the soccer court.

It is a little confusing 🥴, but you will know your way once you arrive there or you can use Google Maps for assistance 😅.

Since it is a sports club (that also has a drinking booth), there is a mandatory need for a form of ID (Your driver’s licence). My friend and I presented our driver’s licence to the staff member, where they inserted it into a machine and printed out a receipt with our names and how long we can stay in the club. So, remember to bring your driver’s licence! Or you will not be permitted entrance!

It is a rather big sports club with an open plan layout and many seating available. My friend and I arrived at noon on a Saturday and there were plenty of available tables. The sports club had a family-friendly vibe to it and was very spacious.

How to Order, Setup of the Café and Price

Red Pepper had a huge board with the most popular menu items above the counter. They also provided a menu for their customers. As mentioned earlier, my friend and I arrived at the restaurant with the intention of having lunch and dessert. After we had our lunch (spicy Korean pork bones, fried chicken and rice; if you’re curious 😉), we ordered an Injeolmi (Soybean) Bingsoo at the counter and received a table number stand. I believe the price of the Bingsoo was under $20 and they had various flavours at the time including Matcha, Injeolmi (Soybean) and Mango.

The order took a while to come out, I assumed that this may be caused due to their malfunctioning Bingsoo machine or lack of Bingsoo ingredients. Either way, the Bingsoo finally arrived around 10 to 20 minutes later and the wait was worth it 🤤.

(the Bingsoo exhibits such grace and beauty)😍

Bingsoo Presentation

This Injeolmi (soybean) Bingsoo was presented in a Korean stone bowl that made it look incredibly appealing. The bowl was filled with delicate bits of milk Bingsoo and covered with injeolmi (soybean) glutinous rice cakes. It was then dusted with injeolmi (soybean) powder and completed with sweet red beans and condensed milk 🤤

Bingsoo Taste

Injeolmi (soybean) and Matcha Bingsoo are definitely my go-to flavours and probably two of the most iconic Bingsoo flavours. Nothing can go wrong with Injeolmi (soybean) Bingsoo, at least not at Red Pepper 😆.  Red Pepper was very generous with their serving size and ingredients which I loved 😍

The milk Bingsoo had a nice sweetness to it and the injeolmi powder added a mild savoury flavour to the Bingsoo. You will not be disappointed by the flavour of this Bingsoo 😛. The injeolmi rice cakes when eaten by itself is like a nice sweet and savoury snack, but when eaten with the milk Bingsoo 🤤. There was the chewy factor, the roasted flavour from the injeolmi powder and the sweetness from the milk Bingsoo. Such a great combination! 😌 The sweet red beans were also great with it not being overwhelmingly sweet or dry.

If you are hesitant to try Injeolmi (soybean) Bingsoo because it may sound a little bit unique or is seemingly garnered towards the savoury side (with it being made with soybeans and all). Give it a try! You won’t be disappointed! 😄

Bingsoo Rating

This Bingsoo rating will be out of 5 stars based on my personal preferences and experience 😏. I will outline the common attributes and quality that I look for in Bingsoo and rate it.

Bingsoo Flavour:
⭐️⭐️⭐️
⭐️/5
The Injeolmi Bingsoo tasted incredible. I loved how it really exhibited a strong injeolmi (soybean) flavour but still had a delightful sweetness to it.

Bingsoo Presentation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25 /5
The Bingsoo being in a Korean stone bowl looked like the Bingsoo you could get in Korea. It looked original and the toppings were neatly put on by the staff. The Bingsoo was definitely  Instagrammable 📸🤩.

Bingsoo Ingredients:
⭐️⭐️
⭐️⭐️ /5
The portion of all ingredients were near perfect. The staff were very generous in their serving of the milk Bingsoo, injeolmi (soybean) glutinous rice cakes and red beans 😄. All the ingredients meshed well together 🤤

Bingsoo Melting Point:
⭐️⭐️
⭐️.75 /5
The Bingsoo melted rather fast when I assumed that it wouldn’t because it was stored in a Korean stone bowl 😣. However, the pace that my friend and I were eating may have been a contributing factor to the melting point 😅.

PSA📢: Red Pepper may have changed their recipe 😮 So, they no longer have desiccated and fine pieces of milk, but instead it is shaved. I believe it will still taste incredible though 😆.
